LIBERTY – Police arrested a Yonkers man for an assault that occurred in Glen Spey.

State Police at Liberty arrested Matthew Spataro, 19, on a misdemeanor charge of criminal obstruction of breathing. He is accused of grabbing the throat of a female victim against her will causing injury.

He was arrested on May 29 following a month-long investigation by State Police and the Campus Sexual Assault Victims Unit.

It could not be immediately learned if Spataro was a college student or had visited a college campus.

Spataro was arrested at his residence in Yonkers and transported to the State Police barracks in Haverstraw for processing. He was released with an appearance ticket pending a future court appearance in Sullivan County.
