Yonkers’ St. Ann School And St. Paul School To Be Closed By The Catholic Church – By Brian Harrod

The Covid-19 pandemic is killing Yonkers Catholic schools — and hurting the children that attend them

The Office of the Superintendent of Schools today announced 2 Yonkers Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of New York will be unable to reopen in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Children are always the most innocent victims of any crisis, and this Covid-19 pandemic is no exception,” Cardinal Dolan said in a statement.

“I’m grateful more schools didn’t meet this fate, and that Catholic schools nearby are ready to welcome all the kids.” added Cardinal Dolan.

The Yonkers Catholic schools were already in financial trouble. Coronavirus pushed some over the edge

Sadly, 18 other surrounding Catholic schools schools won’t reopen in the fall — or probably ever.
