Queens Man Had Magic Mushrooms In Yonkers – By Brian Harrod

Richard S. Ortiz Cando is to appear on a “magic mushroom” charge in the City of Yonkers Court on August 27, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.

On July 30, 2020, at approximately 1:00 p.m., State Police stopped a car on I-87 in the city of Yonkers for a vehicle and traffic violation.

While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle and the occupants was established.

The passenger, Richard S. Ortiz Cando, 22, of East Elmhurst, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

He was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Tarrytown.

Ortiz Cando was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3^rd degree (Possession of a Hallucinogenic Substance); a Class B Felony.

He was released on his own recognizance.
