A Yonkers Man Was The First Human Case Of West Nile In Westchester County

A Westchester County press release says the Yonkers victim was 76 years old and had significant underlying medical conditions.

Westchester County Health Commissioner Sherlita Amler said, “The overwhelming majority of people who get the virus do recover, and we generally have only a few cases each year.”

Last year, one Westchester resident was diagnosed with West Nile Virus. In 2018 there were four cases, and in 2017 there were three.

The Yonkers man was the first case in Westchester County this year
