A woman who escaped police custody in Yonkers on Tuesday has been recaptured

Yonkers Police say Sarah Camarda, 29, was awaiting arraignment on a felony drug charge when she was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for medical treatment.

They say Camarda was in the emergency room, handcuffed to a gurney,  when another patient several beds away started threatening to shoot up the hospital.

When officers guarding Camarda went to assist the patient making threats, Camarda slipped off her handcuffs and escaped.

Camarda was later located by Yonkers detectives in Manhattan and placed into custody without incident.

They say additional charges are now pending.
