An Army soldier from Westchester County was killed Sunday morning at a restaurant-bar in Tacoma, Washington, police said. 

Pvt. Da‘Quan Foster, 22, who Army officials said was from New Rochelle, died after he was shot at the Latitude 84 Sports Bar & Grill in Tacoma.

According to , Foster was with his wife and friends when they walked out of the bar. Foster was reportedly shot in the back while trying to walk away from some kind of altercation. His wife was reportedly injured in the hand, the news station reported.

In published reports, Tacoma police said Foster was from Yonkers, but an Army spokesman said its records indicated New Rochelle. Foster‘s Facebook page states that he attended New Rochelle High School and that he is from Yonkers.

The Tacoma Police Department did not respond to a request for details about Foster‘s death or whether they have made any arrests in the case.

On Wednesday, Army spokesman Lt. Col. Fredrick Williams said Foster was stationed at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma where he worked as a fuel supply specialist. He served in the Army for 11 months.

“From all accounts, this solder was a good soldier, very energetic, always positive,” said Williams, who noted that a memorial for Foster was scheduled for Wednesday. “The memorial is going to be pretty difficult today, but we‘re going to get through it.”

During his service, Foster was awarded an Army Achievement Medal and he was in the process of being nominated for an Army Commendation Medal, according to Williams.
