YONKERS VOICE: Something needs to change if we want to make Yonkers Downtown/Getty Square attractive to Investors


RU ROS: The homeless situation in Yonker’s Getty Square is now making national headlines. The loss of jobs, the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the closing of essential services, not least of which is the Sharing Community, which once housed homeless persons – is the perfect storm for disaster.

Escalating crime, homeless persons sleeping at the train station, on sidewalks, in the Day lit Saw Mill River Park, these are not what is going to bring investors into downtown Yonkers.

The Police Department needs to come up with a plan in order to clean up Getty Square, help the homeless and make it safe for everyone. In the past there were cops stationed in Getty Square, but they are no where to be found…..
