The Town of Monroe, with 22 percent unemployment in April, had the highest percentage of joblessness in the Hudson Valley, according to the State Labor Department.
The Town of Haverstraw had the second highest rate at 19 percent. The City of Yonkers was rated third with 18.6 percent joblessness.
That was followed by the City of Middletown with 17.5 percent unemployment with the City of Newburgh right behind with 17.3 percent and the City of Mount Vernon with 17.1 percent. The City of Poughkeepsie recorded 16.3 percent joblessness.
The Hudson Valley’s regional unemployment for the month was 14.2 percent.
The Town of Ramapo, with 10.2 percent, had the smallest amount of increase. That was followed by the Town of Mamaroneck at 10.8 percent.
