Jamaal Bowman is ahead of Congressman Eliot Engel by 20 points late Tuesday night, though over half the precincts and mail in ballots remained to be counted

WESTCHESTER AND THE BRONX: The battle for Yonkers’ 16th district, where longtime Riverdale Rep. Eliot Engel struggled to fend off a challenge from left-wing Yonkers insurgent Jamaal Bowman.

Jamaal Bowman, 44 is an ex-Bronx charter school principal has successfully framed the 73-year-old Congressman Engel as out-of-touch with the district’s constituency of color.

Engel, who’s been in Congress since 1989, had an embarrassing hot mic moment earlier this month, which many said sealed his fate.

Jamaal Bowman benefited from a flood of cash after he was endorsed by progressive heavyweights like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
