Yonkers will lose out on $25 million a year if more residents don’t raise their census reporting numbers.
Every resident counted is worth around $2,500 a year for the next decade.
City hall officials say currently under reporting is estimated to be from 5,000 to 10,000 people.
Yonkers has been targeting low-income and undocumented communities at food pantries.
The idea is to reach out to those who are least likely to fill out the census to do so.
Yonkers’ response rate is at 55%
The national reporting rate is at 62%.
Now last date to fill out the census is October 31st.
