The Yonkers unemployment rate rocketed to 17.1% in June.
The Hudson Valley’s June unemployment rate of 12.7%, which rose from 11.1% mark in May, was the fourth highest among 10 state-designated regions, trailing New York City (20.4%), Western New York (13.4%) and Central New York (11.6%).
The local counties included were Dutchess (with an 11.5% unemployment rate, up from 3.6% last year); Orange (12.7%, worst in the valley, 52nd worst of 62 New York counties, up from 3.7%); Putnam (11.2%, up from 3.5%); Rockland (12.1%, up from 3.4%); Sullivan (12.2%, up from 3.6%); Ulster (11.3%, up from 3.7%) and Westchester (12.5%, up from 3.7%).
