A lawsuit has been filed against Yonkers mayoral aide Akeem Jamal over a wrong-way crash involving alcohol
The victim of the crash, 53-year-old Lawrence Patton, of Wappingers Falls, is suing Jamal for what he describes as dangerous driving, resulting in serious, permanent injuries. The 7-page lawsuit submitted to Westchester Supreme Court, says Akeem Jamal “failed to obey the rules of the road” and drove “at a dangerous and excessive rate of speed.”…

An appellate court issued a temporary restraining order on the Yonkers’ ban of flavored vape products. The owner of the Vape Cave says the ban has negatively impacted his business and actually does more harm to public health. Yonkers became the first city in the state to approve an e-cigarette ban last month.

A funeral was held this morning for a Yonkers firefighter who died of a 9/11-related illness
John Peteani passed away in the comfort of his home Sunday. He started his career in 2000 with the Yonkers Fire Department. A funeral Mass was held at St. John the Baptist Church.
