A funeral was held this morning for a Yonkers firefighter who died of a 9/11-related illness
John Peteani passed away in the comfort of his home Sunday. He started his career in 2000 with the Yonkers Fire Department. A funeral Mass was held at St. John the Baptist Church. Peteani’s family is asking donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers foundation. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

Montefiore Medical Center has eliminated 149 jobs at its Care Management Organization office in Yonkers
The office manages physician and provider networks in part to reduce health care costs. A spokesperson says the elimination is the result of organizational and workflow changes. Those employees affected by the changes are being offered assistance, including with finding other jobs within Montefiore where possible.
